bio.fsm.undip.ac.id. – The Biology Department of Universitas Diponegoro recently held a public lecture titled “Biopreneur: To Be or Not To Be?” with guest speaker Dr. Eko Jatmiko Utomo, ST, MM., owner of TienJi Integrated Farm, Klaten. The event took place on the 6th floor of the Acintya Prasada Building, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro, with Dr. Agung Janika Sitasiwi, M.Si., from the Biology Department, acting as moderator.

Dr. Eko Jatmiko Utomo inspired students to consider becoming biopreneurs—entrepreneurs grounded in biological sciences. He presented various innovative products with promising business potential, such as eco-friendly straws made from straw, algae as a source for food and medicine, and synthetic meat as an alternative protein. These examples demonstrated how biology can serve as a strong foundation for sustainable business opportunities.

With great enthusiasm, Dr. Eko motivated students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset within the field of biology. He emphasized that biopreneurship is a way to create self-driven job opportunities while making a tangible impact on environmental issues. This event aimed to inspire students to tap into their potential, actively contribute to meaningful innovations, and make a positive difference for society and the environment.
